The Metropolitan Agency of Baixada Santista (AGEM), was created through State Complementary Law n.º 853, of December 23, 1998, as an autonomous entity with headquarters and jurisdiction in a municipality of the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista (RMBS). Its main attributions are to collect its own or transferred revenues and supervise the execution of the laws that provide for metropolitan regions, including Federal Law No. and projects of common interest to the municipalities of the RMBS.
